Mounting Transducer

Post  Ugly Stick on Tue Sep 01 2009, 20:53

I have just purchased a gps sounder combo and am getting different messages as to where to put the transducer. I see that andrew sells a bracket for transom mounting it but wonder if i will break it in the surf or parked on a beach. I figure if it is mounted inside the hull i can't break it but do i lose performance and if so how much? Is a second battery needed to run the unit ? Can anyone recommend anywhere for installations of transducer gps/ff and second battery (I have a yamaha FX160) I am in the Brisbane or Gold Coast area?????
Cheers

You will certainly need to be mindful of placement, especially if you are running right up to the beach, as you guys seem to do over there. As for the surf Andrews bracket is all good Very Happy I have witnessed the R&D. Most run just the one main battery, however two with isolator switch is certainly as safe way to go.

He had transducer mounted internally.
