Re: NAV LIGHTS
Yeah you can also get seperate port, starboard and whit light which run off one D cell each for $39.99 at Burnsco or Smart Marine. I have looked at these several time and just unsure of praticallity of temporary fit and where etc etc....
I had thought of buying 4x headlamps and putting all on one head strap. With lamps located at front, back and each side. The side ones would then be coloured for port and starboard.
Sounds funny and I make myself laugh everytime but.......... it would be very portable and has no holes drilled in the hull and the lights are at a much higher point above the waterline for good visibility from other craft.....I would however look like a damn Christmas Tree
This is my best plan until I can be influenced to try something a little more fashionable!!
Post some pics of your setup up Fishoe.

Re: NAV LIGHTS
Awesome mate !!! Well done. They are mounted in the front cover exactly the best place. What/how have you dealt with cables from there with opening and closing the hood....?? Possibly gone down the front strut..??

Re: NAV LIGHTS
Ok, I see from the weekend's posts that a few of you have done the Nav light thing. Would be interested in pics of the various installations. Im thinking also that a spare battery might be the go, where have people mounted these?

Re: NAV LIGHTS
What you are not going to try and do better and mount a spotlight or a lighthouse on the back of your ski?

Re: NAV LIGHTS
ah just mount a Brazier on the swim platform and have a small fire... good for those cold mornings, and you can put the smoker on for the trip home!

Re: NAV LIGHTS
LED's are where it is at YEAH !! They might cost a little more but for $49.95 for a pair they are well worth it and they use very little current etc etc. I also purchased a $10 White Headlamp LED (on the head band) from Mitre 10 Mega which goes on the rear and is easily removed, so a more permanent one could be the go at some stage, but I figured I can use it for all sorts. My Nav lights are very portable at this stage with wiring simple and into the glovebox where my battery runs my fish finder. I then have connections behind the front of each side of the seat where I just slip the lights on and plug in. Just about to mount them onto thick elastic which holds them inplace perfectly as opposed to cable ties. I may mount permanently butone day soon but I am a little funny about drilling holes.
These lights are going to be great for early morning winter missions to Noises, Marias and Ahaas for stalking big resident bears in the kelpie shallows as the sun rises.

Re: NAV LIGHTS
Thanks Mark, finally I get a sensible answer for my question
I have one of those LED headlamps, have you mounted it somehow or do you wear it on your head backwards?
Some pics would be good, I was definately gonna go LED due to power consumption etc.

Re: NAV LIGHTS
Andrew picked up a set of led's for me the day before we went out on Sunday morning , took me about 35-40 minutes to rig them up temporarily. Awesome and worked well , Andrew had his mounted quite high , when we got past music point he gunned it and was maybe 100mt ahead of me and they were still clearly visible.
I'm about to mount them semi-permanent on the detail trim that sits under the lid of the front storage compartment using automotive double sided tape , it's much stronger than your normal tape , don't need to drill any holes .
Will post some pics soon .
