Gidday all, I’m an ex boat fisho.....well have it for sale anyways Laughing . Been fishing forever on the west coast (raglan) and the coromandel and would like to join the ski brigade. Been looking at a couple of options for a ski’s and I have to say it comes down to two for me YAMAHA 09 FXHO or KAWASAKI 09 ULTRA 160 LX. Does anyone have a preference for either? ......I’m looking forward to meeting some skiers in the near future.
Thanks Mike Very Happy

Hi Mike, welcome to the site, both really good skis would be a tough call. Can't really fault either, might come down to price and resale, the Yamahas defintely have the best resale.

Cheers, Andrew

Hi Mike, If you do bar crossing at Raglan you might want to consider a Honda Aquatrax F-12X as they have a low centre of gravity and can spin on a dine to run away from the big ones. Me and my two mates have Honda's and we cross the Marokopa bar which breaks right accross and quite often the jetski's get tipped up side down and rolled around in the surf, you just right them jump on and go again, they never seem to have any problems starting hope this helps you in your quest.

Ps the surfers at Raglan use Honda as well to get to the surf break.

LIke Andrew (jetskifishing) said the Yamaha's are good, the Kawasaki Ultra range are good too (I have a STX-15F Kawasaki and it's economical as long as use it that way).
The newer and higher range skis are longer and thus better in waves as cuts through them better. extra 30cm long seems to be better. Mine tends to hit the waves.

All the new models are good - tend to avoid supercharged as more to break down
