What type of Wetsuit??
Hi, I always wear my wetsuit when jetski fishing for safety but, remember, sometimes you need to 'pee' and when you're wearing an all in one wetsuit with your clothes over the top, it can be a mission, and stripping down can be a cold and dangerous thing to do on a jetski. Yes, this is from personal experience and last time after much consideration I decided to head over to the nearby Island!!! Needless to say, I'm off to get a two piece wetsuit!

Re: What type of Wetsuit??
Yes this is an interesting topic... I dont wear a wetsuit. We usually fish around an island called Motuihe which has a public toilet on it. This is usually a half time stop. A 2 piece would be the answer, but with summer on its way you wont be needing one.

Re: What type of Wetsuit??
Hi TJ, if it is a concern for you go to any canvas maker that does boat covers/canopies etc and they wil put a marine grade zip in around your the required part of your wetsuit for about $50. I wear a two pice suit designed for jetski racing and this would still be a pain to take off on the water. It is made up of overalls and a jacket. As for Andrew, I think he just likes the warm feeling he gets on a cold winters day
Summer is less issue for a wetsuit as need for keeping warm reduces, however I would recommend anyone going out on their own especially into more open water a wetsuit should definately be worn as a safety measure. You never know what could happen and if you ended up in the water and your ski was seperated from you for good, you want to be able to keep warm and have max flotation until help arrives. When you are on your own, be over diligent with safety measures.

Re: What type of Wetsuit??
Mr Extreme I was not aware that you had a racing suit! Wow that explains for the racing yellow colour
When I was away I found a few shops (as women do) and they showed me these new board shorts that have wetsuit lining inside.
(Brand Jet Pilot)
Very clever idea, had to get myself a new rash shirt!!!

Re: What type of Wetsuit??
Coming into summer I tend to ditch the wetsuit (5mm full length paid nz $150 on special) and use the neoprene shorts as described above ($140) and a 2ml neoprene rash top. Over this if cold I use a windbreaker (a sailors jacket with velcro straps on wrists and waist... $120) and I am yet to be cold!
the one piece suit is as expected completely frustrating when needing to relieve yourself... I have done the zip idea in the past and it is worth every cent!!
I totally agree with 2-extreme... I would rather have a wetsuit on if I loose my ski for some reason!
The newest product on the market is 'Skarkskin', and I am looking at getting a 'parka vest' for around $120. These have three layers to them and are meant to be the greatest thing for keeping warn in the wet and the wind... for more information check this out... http://www.sharkskin.com.au/catalogue/category_intro.php/1/1
Not cheap, but can be used anywhere with water... I tend to spend more money on clothing than I do on my rig for fishing... at the end of the day keeping warm and protected from the sun has to be the highest priority, especially when you consider the distances we can cover on the ski!

Re: What type of Wetsuit??
That Sharkskin gear looks pretty damn good Ducky. They put a considerable amount of R&D into that sort of gear. Andrew aka JETSKIFISHING has an incredible tolerance for the cold, even out fishing in July he was still in his board shorts, tshirt and lifejacket............insane !!!!

Re: What type of Wetsuit??
No Mr Extreme, that is called a dedicated fisherman out hunting to feed his family!!!
I myself still have no wetsuit and find that I require comfort whilst reeling in my fish
Maybe I have a little over padding that may help with the warmth............
