Thanks for all the replies and well wishes in my last post.
We lost power yesterday at around 1800 at the height of the storm. The wind was howling, the rain pouring and tide ripping in. Luckily I only had about 18 inches in the garages which was about 2 ft less tha Isabel. I should be able to get it all cleaned up tomorrow and everything put away by Sunday. I took a couple more pictures this morning as the tide was going out. Our power came back on around 1700 tonight.
The big crunch was at my parents house where a neighbor had parked their car thinking it would be safer than their own. NOT!! This big oak totaled it. My nephew, sister and I made quick firewood of it. After having lost over 120 trees during Isabel I am pretty proficient with my Stihl chainsaw. My parents neighborhood had several large trees down, a couple of them on houses. Here are some pictures from today. Hope everyone out there made out OK.

WOW!! That's crazy!!! Glad to hear you and your family are well and made it through. That sure is a serious amount of water combined with an appropriately named boat "Last Resort".

Now the big clean up aye.......

Brian how often would you get a storm of that magnitude?? And also do they build houses specifcally to withstand say a foot or so of water??? Over here most are lined internally with gib board so if water was to go more than an inch it would start being absorbed etc and major $$ in damage.

Thanks for sharing your good and bad experiences !!

Luckily my garages and house foundations are brick and mortar, but anything above three feet is gypsum board. Anything above five feet and it would be in my house. I have yet to have water in my house. It was bullt in 1979. Most newer houses are several feet higher.

What no fishing report of going out in the storm to catch a fish on the jetski !! Laughing

Serious amount of water produced by that storm - makes absolute beachfront seem not so appealing.

Glad you are OK and I guess the car will be one of many insurance claims.
