LOL, just chucked all the game gear on for a laugh.... no way i am taking the 80 wide on the ski!
Sea trial will be with only a couple of snapper rods.... as you say - just in case
Pressure is on alright, knowing the luck of fishing we wont come back with a bloody thing!!!!

With a smaller bin it never feels too bad only coming back with 1 fish or so but there must be pressure to fill the cavernous expanse of the inside of this bin. Not to mention to get adequate ice would be quite expensive unless you recycle the Haurkai gulf water as 2-Extreme does.
(how many 2 litre ice cream containers would you need to freeze to adequately ice this bin??)

No ice gong in that bin boys, just salt water and livebait.
Side bins are for tackle, sea anchor etc. Full DRY storage at last!!

So when the first kingi comes aboard, where does it or the live bait go?

Re: How to fit a 100 Litre bin and livebait tank to a Jetski - Version One!
It goes in the main bin, next livebait comes out and we are into it again. One or two of those is enough to feed an army!
If we are snapper fishing then yes it is full of ice. I take a bag up the front in a soft chilli bin just in case. Need as much weight at the front of the ski as i can now

Re: How to fit a 100 Litre bin and livebait tank to a Jetski - Version One!
Hi Glenn here
just a word of warning before you head out to the big blue load ya ski up with what you you usally would and take it some where in calm conditions and see how stalble the ski is even tip it over and see if you can right it again(make sure the water is deeper than your rods are high).don't know if you have seen my pic s but we set gray pots off our skis and it shifts the ballance of the ski way back where there is little or no floatation and in a choppy sea we sometimes roll over backwards on a quarter angle,(not a nice feeling ).Hope it work for you thou it looks great.

Yes, had that in mind. Heading out for a sea trial after work today and will be doing a roll over test. Am also going to pump the bin full and see where the balance point is for worst case scenario. After that i am planning on hunting down the Waiheke Ferry for some side on wave tests if the harbour chop isnt enough. Should know where we are at by then.

The only time ive been close to rolling backwards is about 10 feet in the air off a wave and standing to far back
For anyone who is keen on seeing the rig upside down in a roll over test, will be launching at half moon bay about 5:30pm

All I can say is AWESOME !!! Very impressive and well executed. Can't wait to see the video footage from the shore cams as well as the Tachyon Andrew mounted on the ski to give the full effect. It was certainly surprising to see how hard it was to roll completely over!!! I will let you fill in the details, but all in all well done !!
Cheers

Re: How to fit a 100 Litre bin and livebait tank to a Jetski - Version One!
Cheers Mark. Yes, surprising to see how bouyant the damn thing was, got sore arms from trying to swing it over. There is NO way that it would go over on its own, it took all 90kg of me hanging out the side and tugging like hell to get it to go right over and then it was back upright again before i was! Skis certainly have come a long way!
As far as the sea trial went, it still pulls over 70mph loaded up with a full tank of water and gas so i am happy as. It feels a bit like having a passenger on board when the tank is full but dont feel anything when empty. Hit some good wakes and had some full on launches off the ferry with no ill results so a success all round
Cant wait for Andrews footage to arrive and bring on Sunday, see you all there.

Re: How to fit a 100 Litre bin and livebait tank to a Jetski - Version One!
I have managed to haul my 100+kg over the side of my ski to get back on after a spill without tipping more than once! I thought you might have a task tipping it over as they are extremely stable machines.....They sure have come a long way from the likes of waverunner 650

To be honest, i was surprised how good it was. Even sitting or standing on the bin it wouldnt lean very far and that was with my weight plus the rig and bin full of water well over the back end.
