Kawakawa Bay Monday 26th 06.00 am
Could be, not too familiar with the area (seawise I mean) can you post a map as my chart doesnt go that far & I was going to go for a fish in the morning anyway and have my family join me later for a play on the ski and some time on the beach. Also anyone know of any gas stations between Dannemora & Kawakawa as I need to fill my ski up on the way & I normally do it at the shell at Pakuranga on the way to bucks beach.

Clevedon petrol station is open from 5:00am which is on your way and just before the turnoff to the Kawakawa Bay Road. Family can join you at one of the beaches further around or even at Orere Point.
Have a good one, either way !!

Re: Kawakawa Bay Monday 26th 06.00 am
Looking forward to a report guys, sorry I couldn't make it! I might head out this evening behing Motuihe.
Re: Kawakawa Bay Monday 26th
Unfortunately Newbie couldn't make it so ended up being a solo mission.
Wind didn't come to much and was a comfortable ride around the island.
Picked up a couple at the lower end of Ponui and another on the eastern side of the island but that was it-
just pannies around 36cm
Shot up to the mussel farm at man'o war bay to be greeted by a bloke in an 8ft inflatable showing me a snapper of around 10lb ,couldn't get my gear in the water fast enough but I think he must have caught the only decent fish there.
It still beat mowing the lawns.

Re: Kawakawa Bay Monday 26th 06.00 am
Great stuff Doggie, I got out in the afternoon, got 5 not so fat Snappers, enough to feed the family in pretty messy conditions out there.
Re: Kawakawa Bay Monday 26th
Sorry mate, we will have to catch up for a fish another time. Ended out heading out this evening with Andrew and it was a shocker!!!...I know I'm a newbie and it had to happen sooner or later but this is my first time out with no..yes no fish!!!
My day was like Marks recent experience, all I did was send gear off to Davy Jones. Started with a massive tangle as I headed out & my jig head came loose and spun up a massive web of braid, only answer was the knife. After a few hours with very little activity and any i did have just biting the bums off my plastics.
To top it off when I was washing down my gear at home I noticed both jig heads missing and another mess to tidy up on my 2 rods, i'd tied them down well and cranked the drag right up on the reels but I guess that chop coming back and those few airborne moments cost me a bit more tackle.
Oh well never mind, the comradery was good and as they say, "a bad days fishing is better than a good day at work!"

kawakawa bay monday 26th
Hi Newbie
I'm using the jig clips so when travelling any distance I simply slip the head off and put the clip around the line.
Doesn't seem to damage the braid at all and saves the worry of wearing a jig through the back of the head.
They don't seem to affect the action of the jig , you only need to remember how to tie a bloodknot and it's easy to change jig heads as needed.
