Hi Fishoe. I don't why Aussie Snapper have bumps and yours don't ? When we go to Fraser the DPI boys take out some cartilage from behind the brain and they can tell how old the fish are. Apparently they are a very slow growing fish. Any fish over 2kg here has a bump on its head. The photo below shows a couple I caught of Mooloolaba apparently these fish would be at least 12 years old.
