Re: This Friday - the Gulf ?
Ended up with 7 fish, a couple of fat ones!
There were huge workups again in the waiheke channel, and a boat about 30 meters from me got SMOKED off a big kingi at the mussel farm... the kingi must have been bob marley as he smoked the line and spooled the poor chap lol ! Glad i didnt hook it up on my 6 kilo lightning rod.
Tried scullys, then shag, then the rocky outcrop of pakatoa, then over to the mussel farm, then gannet, then back to the mussel farm, then down the channel chasing workups, on the way home stopped at the reef behind the wooden lighthouse and picked up another fatty. smallest was 34, biggest 46cm
Got my first good fish on the big nuclear chicken swimming tail grub. The Camo 5 inch, curried chicken shads seemed to get munched a lot, but not as many hookups as the crazy legs (black and silver ones caught 4 fish and a few throwback 29's etc)
pics and a full report to come...
