Their are a few places to launch, the "Elbow" south/west of Pukekohe, or Mere Mere (by the pub). visit this site for info.

I have been on a poker run on the river just before Christmas. went nearly up to Huntly. their is fuel along the way if required. Maybe not this weekend but it is a great and interesting trip.

Yes definately two events...the weather (at this stage) is bad for an over-nighter on Friday 20th.
