Re: kawasaki 250 ultra x 2008
Hi Clint, all I know is they are heavier than the other major brands, very thirsty( when using supercharger) and get quite a lot of water over the front, due to the sleek front. For fishing I think you can do a bit better, especially for economy. The Ultra 250 looks a great ski and defentely is not lacking in the horsepower. You get what you pay for, maybe try down the Yamaha track again, if any in the budget.
Hopefully a few of the other guys like Paulb may give an owners opinion

Re: kawasaki 250 ultra x 2008
I've got an '07 Ultra 250x and Yes they are quite thirsty if you give it plenty, must be why they have a 78 litre fuel tank. At slower speeds they can get a bit of water over the front but once on the plane they ride great and are recognised as one of the best rough water hulls around. I have recently found out that the '07 models have had a problem with fuel in the oil and have just had that problem with mine, also fouled 2 plugs. As I understand from talking to the dealer the problem has been corrected on the '08 model. Otherwise I've found it to be a great ski. If you are interested , you can look on the GreenHulk forums for plenty about the Ultra 250X.

Re: kawasaki 250 ultra x 2008
Just One thing I didn't mention is that the dealer is monitoring the problem with mine and said they often correct themselves in time...mine has only done 15hrs and they are doing oil, filter and so on under warranty if fuel is found in the oil... Free of charge thank goodness.

yeah the dealer told me 2007 has problems and were all recalled, what does a trip cost you on fuel?

Kawasaki Ultra 250 2007
Hey Paulb, I don't want to be negative but I would recommend you be very careful with their recommendation. Who has told you that they can improve with time..??
Information I have had from two mechanics is the factory fault can result in catastrophic failure as it will hydraulic the engine and more than likely sipt a piston out.
I just think you should get a second or third opinion from professionals.
Just my two cents worth.
Cheers

'07 ULTRA 250X
Thanks for the comment 2-EXTREME, the w'shop at JFK was who said they have had them bed in at around 30 hrs, but they have also sent a couple to Kawasaki to be rebuilt. Believe me ,I'm not at all happy with the problem and had thought about a second opinion. The only good thing is it's still covered by warranty.

Re: kawasaki 250 ultra x 2008
Yes you are right. They can settle once bedding in, and you hope that any failure occurs under warranty. JFK are pretty onto it when it comes to these so I beilieve you are on good advice. Worth keeping a good record of all work under warranty as this will assist you at resale time if selling to someone who has knowledge of faults etc...
Hope all works out and you have 100s of hours of trouble free fun.

Re: kawasaki 250 ultra x 2008
Hi mate I have a SEADOO 04 gtx ltd and found it great with the closed loop cooling system.(NO SALT IN DA MOTOR)
BUT!! a lot of them blow the super chager it is a fault with some washers. But this can be fixed for $500-$600 if you get it before it goes bang!!
If you leave till after it goes bang, like mine it will cost you about $3000 witch maid my eyes water a bit because the ski only done 65hrs..
Same goes for any one with a seadoo look into it it could save you sum cash.

Re: kawasaki 250 ultra x 2008
so is it a ring problem on the Ultra ? rings not bedding in and fuel getting down into the oil gallery ?
Sounds fundamentally bad... (from an ex mechanics perspective anyway)

Yeah , the mechanic thinks it may be to do with ring tension, oil currently being changed very regularly under warranty.... it's apparently a widespread problem with '07 models.
