Anyone based down this way over this period? I'm going to be staying at Whanga and keen to get a few fishing sessions in. I hear the fishing at Whanga is crap at this time of the year though.
Maybe Major Island expidition could be planned

I'll be in Whitianga 10th til 19th and was going to ask where to go fishing from there.

Might get chance to go out with the rod (early in the morning whilst children and wife sleep).

So where is there nearby Whitianga that you can fish? Having not been there before I'm happy to potter about nearby but some nearby fishing spots might be nice otherwise I'll find some reefs and use the fish finder

Gents,

Although a newbie to the forum, I have finally got the ski ready and will be in Whiti from Xmas to the 10th Jan.

Keen to catch up on some expeditions off Tairua. Otherwise going hunting through the Ohinau's or out to Mercury Island (Kuaotunu or Opito launches respectively)
