fishing this weekend 31/10 or 01/11
Hey guys,
Im a first timer and would really love to tag along with a more experianced fisherman and learn about fishing off a ski.
Is anyone going out this weekend and would mind teaching me the ropes.
dont mind where you launch from?
Let me know if any of you are keen?

Hi there Newbie...
Just read your post (obviously) and should be free this weekend for a fish if you are still keen... I am in north shore, and usually leave from Takapuna boat ramp. The only issue with this ramp is that if the weather is looking good, you have to get there really early... at least 30min before sunrise or you may miss out on a park for you car and trailer.
I will assess things closer to the time, and Swasy may be keen to head out with us as well.

Yeah I am likely to be on the water around 6:12am launching at Bucklands Beach on Sunday morning. Feel free to tag along.
Just do whatever Innsie tells you and magic will happen.......!!!
One word of advice.....practice tying your braid to fluro leader knots at home on Saturday, if you are struggling search on the internet, buy a knot book or visit Top Catch for some demos. As I can assure you there will be nothing more frustrating than struggling to retie or getting busted at your knots if the fishing hot, the frustration will increase and your progress will be further delayed ( I have seen plenty).
Cheers
Mark

Re: fishing this weekend 31/10 or 01/11
So it looks like I will be out on the water on Sunday, still plan to leave from Takapuna, but keen to meet up with others out there. This maybe my final trip out from Auckland for a while so going for the big fish this time... and keen for a John Dory too... neve caught one of those yet!
Takapuna boat ramp 6am for the 6.17am sunrise, and depending on who is heading out will prob aim for Rakino channel... often do alright out there.
