OVERNIGHTER 12th of February POST YOUR INTEREST...
Hi Crew, with the hot weather here and so many of us enjoying the Jetskifishing, the first overnighter is well overdue for us Hauraki Gulf Jetskifishos.
The first date, weather permitting is February the 12th, weather permitting.
Our first proposed destination is the spot we visited on Friday at the north eastern end of Waiheke, then back up is Motutapu Island or Motuihe.
[img][/img]
Next penciled dates if postponed is February the 26th, weather permitting.
We have calculated the tide for the overnighter and I am sure with a group of us should be many a laugh with some good fishing sessions...
Prevoiusly there has been talk of such an event so the more confirmed with committment the higher chance of the event going ahead.
THINGS TO PACK FOR OVER NIGHTER
Fishing tackle
Baits
Ice
Pup Tent
Sleeping Bag
Torch
Dunny Paper
Change of clothes
Tin Foil
Dinner for those who don't catch fish...
Fluids
Camera and vid cameras
VHF
Insect repellant
SOMETHINGS FOR ONE OF US TO REMEMBER
Deck of Cards
Burley
Big gear for our shark catching off the beach
THINGS NOT TO BRING
Kids or woman

Yip. I'm in.
Andrew, if we're catching sharks from the beach should we be doing an article on this trip for 'No Limits' Magazine? I can bring one of my jounalists and photographers along and chuck them on a ski together... Or is this a 'what goes on tour stays on tour' type trip.
Thanks Andrew for kicking this off. Should be a great evening and morning !!
I may need some extra assistance with transporting my tent parts.........anyone got a sled for the ski???
[img][/img]
Maybe 2-Extreme you might want to consider trading up to one of the Kawasaki Ultra range with the 200 litre storage to put your pup tent in -
Lovely selection of colours - green, red or silver : NO BLACK I'm sorry

Sounds like fun and trouble all rolled in to one. Perfect! javascript:emoticonp('')
Also would be good to meet a few JS fishos face to face.
2-Extreme, can i book a suite in your pup tent as i dont own one myself? (or anyone else thay may want to share some shelter.) no point taking up valuable food and beer space with extra camping gear.

Yes, the whole point behind it really is to do something a little different with our skis and get some time to meet others properly that we have only ever had conversations with on here or whilst fishing. So having a beer, bbq and camping is a great solution. (By the way my tent looks nothing like that, I was taking the .... for anyone who thought I may be serious !!)
This will be one of many social activities that will be taking place both on and off the water throughout 2010, and there will be a mixture of family events included as well.

Good idea getting this underway Andrew.
It goes without saying... I'm definitely in! If we can get the first underway and all's good... then maybe overnight expedition no.2 kicks off before the damn cold weather arrives.
For those of us on thirsty supercharged seadoos... we'll probably need to carry a few spare litres of gas... as can be used to start the beach fire for dinner or to burn a few yamaha's to keep us warm:lol!:

Memfis will be enough "adult" entertainment for all(once you decifer the accent)!!!
No need for any extras.
Now Innsie, I sense a real "love, hate" relationship building with you and Yamaha's......... this trip will be a great opportunity for you to try a Yamaha out when we are all on a beach. Actually second thoughts, they are suited to a slightly younger generation !

Re: OVERNIGHTER 12th of February POST YOUR INTEREST...
You're so right Mark.
Age creeps up on us all buddy... I'm really 29 and just lost my hair at a young age due to being so virile
So that you're able to sleep tonight.... I actually do like Yamaha's... but just can't resist having a little forum fun with the die hard brand aficionados out there. As you know, I'll swing either way (that'll get them talking) and one of my clients owns a Yamaha dealership. He's keen on having me convert (or is it upgrade?) onto a black stallion but Andrew Leigh's put me off with all of the love circle comments, plus I casually suspect my wife's getting jealous of the balaclava club and our machines, so I'd better keep the old one for now.
Bring on Friday week! Can't wait.

Re: OVERNIGHTER 12th of February POST YOUR INTEREST...
Are you bringing the pink Marshmellows ??
To be honest when you hop onto a completely different brand of ski the first ride usually doesn't impress that much, as you riding position, arms, seat, throttle response and hull characteristics are all diferent and not what your body and mind have naturaly come accustomed to. None of my Seadoos were RXT-X's so I am still looking forward to ride one.

Re: OVERNIGHTER 12th of February POST YOUR INTEREST...
Thats right Peter. The plan at this stage is for people to get on the water whenever they can, so no pressure if working late and family commitements etc. So I am sure many will get together for a fish on the way somewhere.....to help provide dinner for those late arrivals !!! Andy will likely to be heading back from the Barrier or some far off location in his quest to provide big thick kingie steaks !!! (No pressure Mr Hill)
The plan is then to get together at Garden Cove, Waiheke (to be confirmed as this maybe Calypso Bay on Motuihe) at 7:00pm ish or maybe 7:30pm to setup for the night, cook a feed and talk crap. High tide is approx 7 so the skis will be pulled up and left resting nicely on the beach for the high tide the following morning. Those who wish to anchor in the bay can as it really will be personal preference. Then up early, bacon, eggs and coffee (who's gonna be that organised) then off for a fish.
More details and plans to come.......

Loving your humour Alex !!
The one and only wind direction that blows straight into Garden Cove is forecasted for Friday afternoon/night 10-15 knots from the NW........go figure !!!
Calypso Bay on Motuihe is an option, but has anyone else got some suggestions that may be good?

Wind Direction
Is the wind direction going to be to much of an issue if we are beaching the skis? Or is the chop or swell up as well making it difficult to get in the the beach??
