Tuesday a.m Western End of Waiheke
Thinking of heading out in the morning and drfiting anywhere from Matiatia, Church Bay, Cable Bay to Park Point as this area will be literally glass calm in the forecasted 20 knot Easterly. Nice big tide flow so fish will be aggresive.
Anyone else having the same thoughts?

Yeah. Me! I'm thinking you're keen as and me, well I'll be pushing paper. Good luck Mark.
As I mentioned yesterday, it's hard to tell the size of the fish at the moment until they're almost surfaced. Even the little ones are aggressive and put up a good fight in the current!

Re: Tuesday a.m Western End of Waiheke
Well the 3.6M tide made for the fastest drift speed I had ever seen and the almost wind against this massive tide made for an interesteing yet fun ride back once out of the protection of Waiheke. Kept 2 Snapper, 1 @ 45cm and 1 @ 48cm threw back 3 Snapper ranging 35 - 42cm (only wanted a feed). All smashed the 3inch Chartruese Swimming Mullet with not a single hit not resulting in a hookup. Was really hard with the drift speed so using 1oz I stayed in close in approx 10M of water most of the time Any deeper say 15 - 22m it would have been near impossible to get to the bottom even with a 1.5oz. My GPS said I was travelling at 4 knots at one point in the current. Home by 8:00am and in the words of the great Neil Inns "feeling refreshed and pumped" !

Good man Mark! Thought you'd have a tough trip on the way back.
Who said I was "great". Confused they be young podwin. May the force be with you.
It's amazing how the short morning trips pump you for the rest of the day! Agree with Andy... now that the family's getting sick of snapper, I have also started putting them back if under 35cm. I like a couple smaller as = perfect size for our 6 year old's fav beer batter recipe.
