USA imported skis Empty USA imported skis

I know this has been discussed before but for the life of me i cant find the topic.... Am looking at 2 FXHO 160 ski's (2005) both with about 40 hrs on them... Seemed to be very low hrs for the age of ski...it was explained to me by the dealer that they were imports from the states and that the avg hrs a skier in the states puts on / year is about 10 due to the fact that they dont have the lakes at their doorstep.and dont get out on them as often as we would in Aust..etc etc ... i am looking at paying around 13500 per ski and was wondering what to look out for if the hours dont really match the ski (ie the dealer is full of it ) ...also is this too much for a ski of this age with 40 hrs on it??? Lack of use if has been a saltwater ski can be detrimental and worse if not a Seadoo.

Awesome effort for 1 month Fishoe !! Use is the best thing for any ski. Talk to any mechanic and the message wil be the same.

you could find someone with the YDS cable and software to plug into the ecu and check the hours. although that could have been changed also

Ive had my ski for less than a month and done 18 hours, half of that was towing a water skier, i travel 4 hours south to go water skiing and we trash it for a good four hours that day so im a little suspect... try the cable or as they say, if it looks like a dog, smells like a dog, then it probably is a dog!...

I'd heard alot of the ex states skis were ex rentals, ie = high hours, not a problem if well maintained but worth less.

As said before, there is nothing wrong with hours on a ski as long as it has the scheduled services. My Yamaha SHO has just clicked 83 hours in 4 months and I know will be trouble free for 100's of hours. It will be up for sale next month and I am sure no one will hestitate to get such a reliable ski only 6 months old, I suppose it comes down to can you take the persons word who is selling the ski and stating the history of hours.
